Mangalore: The district administration in association with department of Kannada and Culture hosted its maiden Shree Krishna Janmashtami, here in Town Hall on Wednesday, September 3.

Inaugurating the program, MLC Ivan D’Souza said that for the first time the district administration is hosting Shree Krishna Janmashtami. It is the direction of the state government. Because, the life of Lord Krishna is meaningful and inspiring.

D’Souza said that all of us have to adopt the lifestyle of Lord Krishna. He sacrificed his life for others despite facing a lot of hurdles. He is a guide to all the youngsters.

Ivan D’Souza also asked the district administration to host this program in a big way with more public participation. He said there is a need to disseminate the message of Lord Krishna to more people.

Deputy Commissioner A.B Ibrahim said that people should take examples from the life lived by Lord Krishna, he said.

Sudha Rani, lecturer of Alva’s College, Moodbidri, who spoke on the occasion said that Lord Krishna is a role model to the politicians. He worked without expecting from others, she said.

B. Sadashiva Prabhu, additional commissioner, Mohan Rao, tahsildar, Chadrahas Rai were among others present on the dais. In addition, there were cultural programs marking the celebration of Shree Krishna Janmashtami.
