Mangalore: The University Level Inter-collegiate Table Tennis Tournament which was organized at Besant Women’s College in association with Physical Education Department of Mangalore University concluded today.

Milagres College Kallianpur (3-0) was declared winners among the Men’s teams. They won against Poornaprajna College Udupi. In the women’s category, the team from St. Agnes College was declared winners. They defeated Poornaprajna College Udupi (3-1).   

Mr. Burnald from Milagres College Kallianpur was declared the Best Player of the tournament while Ms.Melisha of St.Agnes was Best Player of the Tournament.

Joint Director of Collegiate Education Mangalore Prof. Siddaramu  who was the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony gave away the prizes to the winners.  Congratulating the winners he appreciated the efforts of the host Institutions for its remarkable organization and co-ordination

Deputy Director of Physical Education Department of Mangalore University Dr.Gerald Santhosh D’souza who spoke on the occasion said, a good number of colleges have taken part in the tournament and this is the first time the tournament is extended to the second day.  This in turn shows  the popularity of table tennis game among the students.

Prof. Pushpalatha Principal of the College presided over the function. Physical Directress Ms. Sowmya T.N and Sports Secretary Harshitha were present on the dais.  The Tournament was inaugurated yesterday at the College by Dr.H. Nagalingappa, Former Director of Department of Physical Education.
