Mangalore: Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim President of DK District unit of the Congress  has strongly condemned  the statement of Baba Ramdev on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dalit colonies.

Speaking to reporters at the District Congress Office on April 30, Wednesday, he said  such words that Rahul visited Dalit colonies for honeymoon were not welcome  from a person like Ramdev. “It is only those who have renounced all  material pleasures who become a monk or sanyasi and not men like Ramdev,”Ibrahim Kodijal said.

He also demanded that Ramdev should  tender an apology to the Dalit community for making such a comment which has offended the community.

“Mahatma Gandhi despite being a Brahmin used to visit Dalit colonies and clean the lavatories there.  Even Rahul Gnadhi has been visiting Dalit colonies and hearing their grievances,” Ibrahim said and demanded suitable action against Ramdev.

Congress leaders Ivan D’Souza, Shashidhar Hegde, Nazeer Bajal, Nagendra, Vishwas Das and others were present.
