DC directs officials to maintain strict vigil in border areas

Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer AB Ibrahim has directed the authorities concerned to step up vigil in areas adjoining  the Kerala borders in view of the upcoming elections and to prevent proxy voting.

Addressing a meeting of Assistant Election officers and Tahsildars of all assembly constituency limits at his office on April 13, Sunday, he said all routes leading to the district from Kerala will be under scrutiny and vehicles will be thoroughly  checked.

More check posts will also be set up and special instructions have been issued to polling officers of polling booths in border areas, he said. The DC informed that check posts will come up at Kanyana-Manjeshwar, Peruvai-Uppala, Bakrabailu-Manjeshwar, Saradka-Kasargod road, Karopady Road, Sullipadavu, Kalladka-Kanhangad Road, Eshwaramangala Road, Narkodu Panattadi and other places.

The Deputy Commissioner also warned of stern action against those resorting to proxy voting.
