Udupi : Six pamphlets of A4 size and a big sized banner by Maoists were found near Maala village in Karkala on Saturday. It is said that the tourists informed police about the literature and later the police seized the same.
Police said that the pamphlets were found thrown in the region and the banner was tied on a tree. It was found two kilometers away from Dakshina Kannada border towards Karkala near Maala.
The pamphlets and banner carried writings on issues pertaining to the displacement of people following development projects.
The pamphlets stated about all the projects which directly or indirectly affected the public. It oppose the issues like evacuation following: Kudremukh national park, the Kasturi Rangan report, the Tiger Reserve project and mull over forest encroachments, armed struggles, “Inam” land encroachments, bureaucratic apathy, displacement of poor people etc.
Besides the pamphlets and banners also oppose the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, though it did not encourage boycott of election.
Karkala ASP has said that all precautionary measures are taken to avoid any sort of disturbances in Lok Sabha elections.
