In an effort to enhance the voting experience and encourage voter participation, Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district is undergoing a transformation with the beautification of nine polling booths. These booths will feature vibrant paintings depicting various themes to captivate voters.
Artistic Endeavor in Bantwal Taluk
A team of drawing teachers has collaborated to adorn the walls of polling stations in Bantwal taluk with intricate paintings. Among the themes chosen, five booths will showcase the ‘Sakhi’ concept, while four others will feature themes such as Yakshagana and youth empowerment. Notably, a polling station in Manchi gram panchayat has already been embellished with Yakshagana-inspired artwork.
Model Polling Stations Across Assembly Constituencies
In each assembly constituency, nine model polling stations will undergo similar beautification, each representing different themes. These include five Sakhi stations managed by women staff, one station dedicated to people with disabilities (PwDs), one youth polling station, one ethnic station, and a theme-based polling booth.
Youth Engagement in Udupi: Pledge to Vote Programme
Meanwhile, in Udupi, an innovative approach to promoting voter participation was witnessed as Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Vidya Kumari K organized a pledge to vote programme. Taking place in the scuba diving area of Naikanakallu at Shiroor, young voters joined officials in pledging their commitment to vote.
Strengthening the Foundation of Democracy
Addressing the significance of elections, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of voter engagement in upholding democracy. Stressing the responsibility bestowed upon citizens by the Constitution, she emphasized the need for transparent electoral processes and maximum participation to ensure the district achieves 100% voter turnout.
