Customs officials seize 25 gold bars, at Mangalore airport

Mangalore: The trial of smuggling gold seems to be boundless; irrespective of safety measures and the strict actions taken by the customs officials.  In yet another case, the customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Saturday January 25 seized six gold bars.

The accused smuggler has been identified as Mohammed Noufal Naimarmoola Hassainar, who hails from, Kasargod.

Reportedly, Hassainar was trying to smuggle gold weighed up around 700 grams valued at Rs 21.13 lakh. He had brought the gold from Dubai by Air India Express flight and was caught during customs check.

Official stated that the gold bars were concealed in a carton which Hassainar was carrying. He has been arrested and the officials are still investigating on the case.
