Wenlock to get Peritoneal Dialysis System: UT Khader

Mangalore : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader who addressed press persons at the Circuit House in the city on January 25, Saturday informed that the government plans to set up  two Peritoneal Dialysis systems at the District Wenlock  Hospital in Mangalore and at the KC General Hospital in Bangalore.

The Minister said to start with 20 patients each will be treated in the two centres and added the staff will be trained to handle the machinery. Based on the results, the system will be installed at other places, he said.

He said initially it will be free of cost to BPL card holders and that the facility will be extended to APL card holders too in the future.

On the problems of Endosulfan victims and the rehabilitation measures taken up by the Government, the minister said  the monthly aid provided to people  suffering from grave health problems has been increased to Rs 3000 from Rs 2000, while the aid is Rs 2000 for other victims.

Apart from the two existing centres, six more centres with all modern facilities will be opened for the benefit of Endosulfan victims, he informed. An executive committee and implementation committee will ensure that the benefits reach the target group, he informed.

Khader on this occasion made it clear that he fully backed senior leader Janardhan Poojari in the fight for a LS ticket from Dakshina Kannada constituency. At the same time he said  it is the duty of the party men to back any candidate chosen by the high command.
