Mangalore : In yet another case of gold smuggling through novel means, customs officials on October 26, Saturday found a man from Kasargod smuggling gold in the form of wires coated with silver As if this was not suffice the wires were hidden as piping in the hem of a plastic cover used for packing quilt.The gold weighing 457.05 grams was worth Rs 14.62 lakhs.
The arrested man is Mohammad Arshad (38) from Kalanad. He had arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai.
This is the fourth such case in the recent few days.
