Bangalore: BJP MLA and former minister CT Ravi has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of superseding the previous finance minister as far as availing loan is concerned.
Participating in the discussion on budgetary proposals, Ravi said the budget has proved wrong the expectations that the government would be free from loan burdens. During the Jagadish Shettar regime the total loans stood at Rs 117650, he said adding at present the loan has increased by 23 per cent. Taking exception to government plans to go in for fresh loans amounting to Rs 40031 crores, he said the government has chosen to allocate the loan amount to several ‘Bhagya’ schemes. Instead the same must be utilised towards developmental projects, he said adding the CM who intended to present a populist budget has failed to make his budget farsighted.
The budget has been presented with an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he said.
He also stated that revenue collection was also not satisfactory and that grants have not been utilised.
