Mangalore: The Communist Party of India CPI (M), organized a protest against the ritual of “Made Snana” which is on-going at Kukke Subramanya Temple, and the inequity in serving food at Udupi Sri Krishna temple, the protest was held at DC office on Sunday December 8.
The state committee of CPI urged the government to pass the superstition bill at the earliest and strive at maintaining equality in the society.
Addressing to the agitators K R Sriyan CPI (M) state secretariat member said, “From more than two years we have been protesting against this issue and we have not received any response from the Government. We had also protested at the Sri Krishna Temple in Udupi as police arrived at the spot and lathi-charged us.”
“When BJP was the ruling party we sent complaints but the no heed was paid to the matter. The High Court had also ordered to stop such practices, but the BJP Government had was least bothered”, he added.
Moreover he also said, “The former government turned their back on the issue and the present ruling party of Congress has also been negligent in the matter. Our culture has been brutalized, as children are being sacrificed and Government is not doing anything at all.”
Sunil Kumar Bajal DYFI state president, B M Bhat CPI (M) state leader, Krishnappa Salyan, Yadav Shetty and others were also present at the protest.
