Mangaluru: A 35-year-old police constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his home located in Maryhill on Saturday, February 23.

The deceased has been identified as Lokanath, a resident of Maryhill. According to the police sources, he was suffering with piles and was recently admitted to the hospital. It is learnt that he was discharged from the hospital on the advice of the treating doctors. But, it is said that he was upset after his discharge from the hospital.

Lokanath’s wife and his three-year-old daughter had been to her mother’s home in Manipal on Friday, February 22. It was on the same night, that he took the extreme step sources said. Though it is suspected that health issue was the reason for his suicide, the exact reason is yet to be ascertained.

Mangaluru Rural police have registered a case in this regard.
