Congressmen urge rickshaw drivers vote for Poojary

Mangalore, Apr 13: A distinctive campaign was held to persuade the rickshaw drivers to vote for congress. On Saturday, April 12, the district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai and Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo along with other leaders of the party visited various auto rickshaw stands and urged the drivers to vote for Congress Lok Sabha candidate Janardhan Poojary.

This special style of canvassing was flagged off by Ramanath Rai at the RTO auto stand. Addressing the media, Ramanath Rai said Janardhan Poojary has a lot of concern towards the poor and the working class. “Poojary earlier had a dream of making auto drivers the owners too by financially supporting them through various schemes. He also had plans of providing 90 percent of loan subsidies for purchasing autos,” he said.

The campaign that was flagged off from RTO auto stand went around the city to various auto parks incuding those at State Bank, Rao and Rao circle, near Lady Goschen hospital, Central Market, Tokyo Market, Milagres, Hampankatta, Urwa Market, Urwa Store, Ladyhill, Mangala Stadium, etc and culminated at the Mangalore Central railway station auto rickshaw stand.

The remarkable part of this campaign was that the leaders, including Ramanath Rai, rode around in auto rickshaws. Santosh Shetty, T K Sudhir, Stany Alvares, Nazir Bajal, D M Aslam, Lawrence and others were present.
