Kalladka peaceful : 5 arrested over recent clashes

Bantwal :Bantwal Town Police have arrested five persons in connection with the recent untoward incidents in Kalladka. Those arrested are  Harris, Siddique, Amith Poojari, Pushparaj and Rajesh.

The five were arrested in a mid night operation on April 11, Friday. They have been produced before the Bantwal Court and remanded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, police who took into custody Zakaria, a PFI leader and Ramesh, a Hindu activist, later released them after interrogation after it was confirmed that they were not involved in the incidents.

Earlier, as news spread that Zakaria has been taken to custody, hundreds of PFI activists gathered in front of the Bantwal police station and demanded his release.

On Saturday, BJP leaders met the SP and requested him to ensure that innocents are not arrested.

Kalladka peaceful: Meanwhile, Kalladka has returned to normalcy on Saturday April 12. Shops and business establishments were open as usual,

As a precautionary measure, Armed reserve police force has been deployed in the town. SP Dr Sharanappa and  Additional SP Shivakumar are camping in Bantwal to oversee the security arrangements. Security has been stepped up even in BC Road.
