Bantwal : Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has urged the party leaders to choose able candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections after duly eliciting the views of the party workers.


He was speaking at a public meeting held as part of the valedictory function of the 13-day Gramadege BJP Nadige Padayatra organised by the party under the leadership of Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Naik in Bantwal Assembly constituency limits.
Continuing, Yeddyurappa said “It is not the BJP which chose Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate, but it is the decision of the people. He called upon the party workers to lay emphasis on strengthening the party.
BSY who launched a tirade against the State and Union governments throughout his speech, charged the Congress of sowing the seeds of casteism to divide the society. He also alleged that the Congress had no guts to project a prime ministerial candidate against Modi. He said Modi has to be supported in best interests of the nation.
He alleged that the state government had gone bankrupt and had not release grants for progress works in the district on the lines of the grants released during his tenure.
BSY further revealed that some cabinet ministers in the state have themselves confessed with him that they have not yet accepted Siddaramaiah as their leader.
Former ministers Shobha Karandlaje and CT Ravi, in their address slammed the Congress governments at the Centre and state.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel,Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Naik and others also spoke on the occasion.
