Mangalore: The Congress concept of internal elections through a secret ballot for choosing the candidate for the Dakshina Kannada  Lok Sabha constituency has evinced interest from many contenders, although it has created an immense chaos as far as selection of voters is concerned.

On Thursday February 27, around 617 voters for the internal poll were listed at the Congress office. However, party workers were seen complaining about the fact that only a chosen few were allowed to cast their votes in favour of the candidate of their choice.

The voter registration process was held from February 23 to 25 February 25 while  the preliminary list was published in the District Congress office on February 26. The final list has been published today and the  party workers had gathered to  find if their name has secured a place in the list.

The internal poll will decide the fate of  Veteran B Janardhan Poojary and Harsha Moily although there are speculations that may be more contenders may join the race as there is now clarity on critical parameters such as – who the voters are, their numbers and the guidelines deciding on the eligibility of the candidates.

Meanwhile, an internal source in the party has said that the final list need to be scrutinised.
