Congress decides to field Shakuntala Shetty from Puttur, JR Lobo and Kripa Alva from Mangalore South & North

Mangalore: The suspense over who would be the Congress candidate  from the prestigious Mangalore South and  North constituencies as well as Puttur constituency has ended with the party finalizing the name of  former bureaucrat JR Lobo, Kripa Alva and Shakuntala Shetty for the three constituencies respectively. All the three are new faces in the elections.

The  Congress is learnt to have finalized candidates for all the constituencies in DK and Udupi district and the list is expected to be formally released either on April 2 or April 4.

As for the rest of the constituencies, the sitting MLAs have been given another chance. It would be Ramanatha Rai from Bantwal, Abhayachandra Jain from Moodbidri, Vasanth Bangera from Belthangady, and UT Khader from Mangalore.

Udupi candidates: The Congress has finalized the name  of Pramod Madhwaraj from Udupi constituency. He is the Block Congress President. Former Udupi MP will be the party candidate from Kaup, while it is Shyamala Bhandary from Kundapur, Gopal Bhandary from Karkala and Gopal Poojari from Byndoor.
