Puttur:A student of the Uppinangady Government First Grade College who kicked off a controversy some time back by pulling the hair of a Muslim girl, is now once again in the news for harassing another girl belonging to his same community.

The boy was beaten up on September 20, Friday by the relatives of the girl who complained to them about the obscene text messages and calls made by Ranjith. It is said the relatives had gathered near a hotel at Uppinangady where Ranjith had asked the girl to come.

It may be mentioned here that following the incident of pulling the hair of a girl in the Uppinangady college, several organizations had staged a protest alleging Ranjith was framed and that he was innocent. Meanwhile, Ranjith who was imprisoned was out on bail and had remained at home without going to college.

The local MLA Shakuntala Shetty who came to know about this had met him at his residence and persuaded him to attend classes. But within three weeks, Ranjith was back in action and began to harass another girl.

On Friday, the relatives of the girl handed him over to the police after beating him up. It is learnt, the police let him free later with a warning as the girl had preferred against complaining.
