Mangalore: The City Crime Branch under the leadership of SP Dr Sharanappa and a special police team recently arrested the prime accused Bobbekeri Basheer and Radhukatte Basheer in connection with the case of raping a minor girl.





On Tuesday May 20, a press conference was organized and the alleged who were arrested from Gujarat, were produced in front of the media.
SP Dr Sharanappa said that a case of abduction and rape of a minor was filed in Vittal police station on April 24. The accused, who are also known to be habitual offenders, had been absconding since the time a complaint was registered against them, he said.
According to the case reports, the three accused have been identified as Bashir a resident of Radhukatte, in Vital Padnoor village who has also charges of stealing bikes, another accused is known as Bakuta a resident of Bobbekeri and Jabbar, resident of Karyadi.
The police received credible information that they were hiding in Gujarat and thus the police teams left for Gujarat and nabbed them.
Accordingly the police found out that Bakuta Basheer and Radhukatte Basheer were in Jamnagar and Dwarka districts of Gujarat.
Acknowledging their location, Dakshina Kannada police commissioner contacted the superintendents of police in Jamnagar and Dwarka and passed on the information.
On May 17, Okha marine police sub-inspector took Radhukatte Basheer and Bakuta Basheer into custody. The accused were then handed over to Vittal police sub-inspector Raghavendra and other personnel, who brought them to Vittal police station on Tuesday May 20.
The investigation was conducted under the directions of the SP, with DySP of Bantwal in charge of the case. The police team led by Bantwal circle inspector consisted of PSI Raghavendra, DCIB personnel Sanjeeva, Taranath, Uday Rai, Praveen of Beltangady police station, Sundar Raj, Chamaiah and Janardhan.
It may be recalled that on April 14, they allegedly took the 14-year-old girl of Idkidu to Madikeri and raped her repeatedly for three days. Their friend Jabbar, who came to know of the incident, took advantage of her and threatened to pour acid and kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone, said the complaint filed by the girl in Vittal police station.
SP Dr Sharanappa concluded stated that the interrogation is still on.
