Mangalore: CHRC national president Shankar Shetty inaugurated Dakshina Kannada district unit of Nation Human Rights Consumers Forum, to create awareness on consumers rights, during a function held at Hotel Woodlands auditorium, today.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankar Shetty said that NHRC has continued its struggle on human rights in the country since 1947. The corruption is rampant in the country that is attributed to the violation of human rights. Meanwhile, CHRC has presented Samruddi Jeevan, an agenda to curb rise in cases of human rights violation to union home minister Chidambaram, said Shankar Shetty.
The human rights activist Narendra Nayak was the chief guest of the occasion.
Narendra Nayak said, “in spite of rise in human rights violation, we remain mute spectators. We have no concern towards human rights and to create awareness on its abuse. The need of the hour is to wage struggle against capitalists who exploit the consumers and limit their rights,” said Narendra.
K S Mohan, Merlyn Martis, Jayalaxmi Hegde, Dayanand Shetty and others were present at the occasion.
