Kushalanagara: The district-level rural sports meet on silted-paddy-field was held at the aegis of Nanjundeshwar youth club, for the successive second year at Nanjarayapattana, near here on Sunday July 14.

The local coffee planter Kemmarana Lalamma offered the motion for rural sports meet ahead of stage programme here on Sunday morning.
Nanjarayana town panchayat president T E Bhagya was the chief guest of the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagya said that sports plays key role in maintaining good health of an individual, said Bhagya.
Nanjundeshwar youth club president Chattadka L Vishwa in his presidential address said that the traditional sports of Kodagu are neglected in the quest to embrace modernity. The need of the hour is to promote these traditional games, said Vishwa. He also commended the youth club in organizing such games and hoped they continue in the future too.
The different sports competitions meant for children, men and women were held and prizes were distributed to the winners at the occasion.
Hundreds of people regardless of age enthusiastically participated in the rural sports meet.
