Mangaluru: The aroma of tasty food was spread all over Chilimbi locality as the culinary competition “Masterchef” was organised by CMM Arena at the roof of their building. More than 25 participants cooked their speciality dishes at home and exhibited them on the platform laid by CMM Arena.
The participants took up the advantage of cooking at home some delicious food that could make any foodie go gaga over. The food ranged from a variety of sandwiches, biscuit preparations, soups, ragi cakes (manni), festival condiments, fruit and salad bar among others. While some exhibited their dishes in a simple manner few managed to decorate their dishes with lamps on the sides and Lord Ganesha idols in the centre.
The non-vegetarian preparations included spicy Mangalorean chicken curry with rice rotti, fish biryani, chicken kabab, red and green dry prawn chutneys. A plethora of vegetarian dishes included green cheesy rolls, spinach cutlets, vermicelli pulav, rice and sambhar, paneer manchurian, palak soup, Rajasthani dahi, various pickles and chutneys as well.
Several festival condiments exhibited at “Masterchef” included Nevri (deep fried puff with sweet fillings), holige (sweet parathas made of coconut gratings), rich coconut burfis and pumpkin halwa. One participant had prepared pani-puri for the contest.
Two acclaimed judges from Mangaluru City went to every participant and tasted the food. They then awarded marks to the participants based on the taste and presentation. All the participants had come to the venue with their family members as they spent a lazy Sunday afternoon spreading the aroma of delicious food.
‘Masterchef’ contest was co-organized by Lions Cub International 317D Region IV Mangalore division and ‘Shri Sahara Nature Cure Center’.

CMM Arena also gave away 10 consolation prizes to participants.
