Mysuru: Taking example of Tamilnadu, where the central government allowed Jallikattu through ordinance, Janata Dal (Secular) State President H D Kumaraswamy said only regional parties could provide stability and achieve progress. The national parties have failed to deliver over a period of time and emphasised on the essence of unity among regional outfits to gain power, he opined while addressing a state executive meet in Mysuru on January 23.
He said, central government’s decision to permit Jallikattu claimed 2 innocent lives in the state but supported Kambala and asked the sandalwood stars to extend support for Kambala like they did in Mahadayi protests.
Talking at the party executive meeting, the state JDS president said no decision had been taken to bring in C M Ibrahim into party fold and that contemplations are still on.
Referring to the candidature of Kalale Keshavamurthy for Nanjangud by poll, HDK only said none was above the party. Keshavamurthy, present at the meeting, denied reports of him switching parties and owed allegiance to JDS and state party president.
JDS is confident of winning 130 seats in the ensuing 2018 Assembly elections in the state and the first list of 100 candidates will be released by February and the balance later, HDK clarified.
HDK loses cool
In an unexpected development few supporters of Harish Gowda, city unit president, started shouting slogans demanding Chamaraja Assembly ticket to their leader. Perturbed by the development, HDK asked Harish Gowda to stop his supporters from shouting slogans, failing which he threatened to sack him from the post of city unit president.
