Mangalore:The catholic Sabha of Bondel church gave a reason for the meaningful celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi for the school children of different schools by giving a the message to keep their surroundings clean by cleaning the sides of the road from KPT to Kavoor along with them.
The unique celebration of Gandhi Jayanthi was organized at Karnataka Polytechnic premises today.
The MLA of Mangalore North constituency Moideen Bava gave a start to the cleanliness campaign by playing the traditional “thamate”
Speaking on the occasion, about the importance of cleanliness he said, “Today there is a need to keep our city clean. Due to the lack of cleanliness the city has become famous by becoming a house for the diseases like Dengue and Malaria.
Hence the children have to cultivate the habit of keeping their surroundings clean”
He later on appreciated the Catholic Sabha for taking the initiative and becoming a reason for this meaningful celebration.
The parish priest of Bondel church recited the oath to the school children and gave the call to cultivate the habit of cleanliness.
Later the actors of Kalakul Konkani repertory under the direction of Christopher Neenasam, showcased a street-play with the message to keep our surroundings clean.
Assistant Parish priest of Bondel church, Patrick Sequeira, Catholic Sabha president Lancy Tauro, Secretary Lancy D’cunha and others were present at the occasion.

The children later on cleaned the sides of the road from PTP circle to Kavoor which was much appreciated by the locals.
