In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, the CCB (Central Crime Branch) police have arrested Abdul Samad, alias Samad or Chammu (36), for his involvement in procuring and distributing prohibited MDMA narcotic drugs from Bengaluru to Mangaluru city and Kerala state.
Seizure and Arrest
During the arrest, the police seized 46 grams of MDMA narcotic drugs, valued at approximately Rs 2.3 lakh, from Samad, a resident of Loretto in Bantwal taluk. Acting on specific intelligence, the CCB police intercepted Samad at Nehru Maidan in the city. Alongside the narcotics, digital weighing scales, and a mobile phone were confiscated, bringing the total value of seized goods to Rs 2.4 lakh.
Legal Proceedings and Prior Offenses
A case related to this incident has been registered at the CEN police station. It’s noteworthy that Samad has prior cases of POCSO violations and drug trafficking registered against him at Ullal police station.
Operation Details
The operation was conducted under the leadership of ACP Geetha Kulkarni of CCB, with the assistance of police inspector Shyam Sundar H M, PSI Sharanappa Bhandary, and other personnel. This successful operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to curb illegal drug activities and protect the welfare of the general public and students.
