Udupi :  In a significant development, Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr Boralingaiah has suspended Ajekar Police Sub-Inspector  Sudhaker  for  colluding with cattle lifters and smugglers. The suspension comes almost a day after the stern warning issued by Health Minister UT Khader to the police department  against inaction in cattle theft cases.

The Udupi SP who has confirmed the suspension of Sudhaker has said  that  there would be an internal enquiry into the case. Sources said the SP had clear cut evidences to prove that the Ajekar SI was assisting cattle lifters and smugglers  and that his phone records too  substantiated the  same. It is learnt, the SI  also helped the culprits escape from the police on many occasions and also  had a share in the profit gained out of the illegal activity.

Some time back, a DAR personnel who was a police jeep driver too was trapped for  abetting cattle  thieves.
