Kasaragod: Armed burglars threatened an elderly couple and ransacked their house before vanishing with gold ornaments, cash and car in the wee hours of Friday.
The incident took place at the residence of Ravindranath, a resident of Kadambaru Katte.
Armed burglers broke through the front entrance when the elderly couple was asleep. When the couple heard the noise they suddenly got up only to find two armed men wielding machetes at them. The rest two ransacked the entire house and took way 240 grams of gold, Rs 30,000 in cash and a RITZ car.
Ravindranath suffered injuries on his throat when he resisted the armed men who also took away two mobile handsets. They managed to take even the car keys kept on television before escaping in darkness with the car.
Ravindranath is residing with his wife Mahalakshmi whereas his son Dheeraj and daughter Divya are staying in Hyderabad.
District Police Chief Thomson Jose, Kumble Circle Inspector VV Manoj visited the burgled house. Dog squad was pressed in to service and forensic experts were seen gathering information.
