Mangalore:State Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries K Abhayachandra Jain released a booklet containing information on the programmes implemented in Mangalore North Zone during the year 2012-13 under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana.
Speaking to media men on the occasion, the minister said DK District was the first in the state to effectively utilize the amount sanctioned under the scheme. He said various programmes are undertaken under the Abhiyan depending upon the funds allotted.
Lokesh C, Zonal Education Officer said a sum of Rs 2,23,86,568 was released under the scheme in North Zone and added out of it various works worth Rs 2,22,59,700 were undertaken.
He said under the scheme various works like construction of school building, classrooms, repair works, construction of toilets in schools were undertaken utilizing the funds.
He further informed that there are plans to organize a unique programme called ‘Kalikotsava’ in 203 blocks of the state in order to ensure qualitative education.
