Body of youth found buried in sand; two arrested, one absconding

Kasargod: In the suspected murder case of a youth who was found buried under sand at Kumble on Thursday, March 27 evening the police have made two arrests on Saturday March 29.

The arrested were identified as 28-year-old Abdul Salam, a resident of Kumble Peral, and 26-year-old Naushad, who allegedly murdered B M Shafique out of resentment over an issue, and then buried his body under a huge mound of sand.

Police arrested Abdul Salam from Kundapur. He had reportedly planned to escape to a Gulf country after committing the crime, wherein Naushad was arrested from Sullia. One more accused, identified as Asir is still said to be absconding.

According to the sources Shafique who was working in the Gulf had returned hometown a year ago. He then had kidnapped and attacked Abdul Salam over some issue. However after sometime Adbul recovered but had decided to take revenge for his twinge.

Abdul Salam came to Kasargod two days before he had planned to murder Shafique. He purchased two machetes and hid them in a hillock near his residence. He also planned to move to a foreign country with a visiting visa. He had also obtained flight ticket to travel on Thursday at around 7:10 pm. Naushad was scheduled to murder Shafique although the plot to kill was made by Abdul Salam.

The police reportedly said that Naushad and Shafique were known to each other. As per Salam’s plan, Shafique was called to the crime spot. Later Abdul Salam and another person by name Asir arrived at the spot. Shafique was then attacked and stabbed to death. After confirming Shafique’s death his body was buried inside the mound of sand and they fled the spot.
