Ullal : A fishing boat which had ventured into the seas during the wee hours of January 20, Monday off the Kotepura coast in Ullal capsized later in the day. All the five fishermen on board have swam ashore to safety.

It is learnt, the boat was damaged  when the fishermen  who had cast the net for fishing around 3.5 nautical miles away from the Someshwar coast, were pulling back the net. This resulted in water gushing into the boat and damaging its engine. Five fishing nets were also  lost and the boat has been partially damaged.

The ill-fated boat named ‘Al-Mubarak’ owned by Hammabba of Ullal Mukkacheri has suffered losses upto Rs 15 lakhs. The boat sailor Hassainar has lodged a complaint with Ullal police.
