Mangaluru: In continuation to the assault case revolving around Belthangady SI Sandesh, four youth were allegedly nabbed by the SI late on Tuesday night and were beaten  black and blue.
The four assaulted youth are Roopesh Saldanha, Elias, Godwin and Kiran Walter Saldanha.

Out of the four, the condition of three who have been admitted to the private hospital in the city is said to be critical.

Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Godwin, one of victims said that he had no clue as to why he was being bashed up but after a while of being beaten up, he fell unconscious and the cops poured cold water on him to wake him up again.

With nose and ears bleeding profusely, Godwin says that Elias and Roopesh got beaten up the most and he has no idea where and in which state they are.

He says that he is only aware that Kiran has not been admitted to the hospital along with the others and he has been left in a state of worry for Kiran, who could be in police custody or must have been produced to court.

Godwin, a cousin of Walter Kiran Saldanha had come down to Belthangady from Mumbai to take part in a wedding at Kiran’s house when the entire episode unfurled.

The family of Kiran Walter, a resident of Savanalu, presently working in Israel said that on Tuesday, SI Sandesh along with other policemen barged into the house of the Saldanhas where a wedding function was going on and tried to arrest Kiran on charges of visa fraud case as per a complaint filed by Anil Furtado.

Furtado has alleged Kiran of taking Rs 5.10 lac from him with a promise to provide visa to Israel to Anil’s wife Leena, but after taking the amount in installments, Kiran allegedly neither provided the visa nor returned the money.

In a bid to arrest Kiran, SI Sandesh allegedly beat up Kiran’s family members including a nun and a child and even hurled abuses at the women.

However, after the incident came to light organisation from right wing to Muslim bodies came out in support of the SI stating that he has been an efficient officer and that action should not be initiated against him.
