Ayesha and Zubair recognize of receiving funds

Mangalore: The prime accused in the Patna blast and Lakhisarai fund racket, Ayesha Bano and her husband Zubair have admitted to the Bihar’s Lakhisarai and Jamui police that they received money from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

The duo has revealed they had been getting funds from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, wherein she alone received Rs 2 crore in last one year in her bank account to transfer it to various accounts.

The heads of the racket that are situated at Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had instructed the couple to exhibit the operation while the two said they didn’t know the identity of people whose accounts they were told to transfer the funds.

It is also learnt that Zubair was employed at Saudi Arabia before returning to Mangalore, according to him, he was lured into the racket.

Asserting to various issues the duo however did not confirm the transaction of Rs 1lakh made to IM operative Mohammed Waqas at a flat in Mangalore.

The disclosure was done as a joint team of Bihar’s Lakhisarai and Jamui police who is working on the case interrogated the couple. The initial reports reveal, new involvements, the duo has named Mohammed Kalimuddin from Assam and an individual from Kerala as well.

Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra told media, “The Mangalore couple has given several names who were beneficiaries of the funds transferred. We are still verifying them and cannot disclose names at this stage of investigation.”

The SP said there had been no conclusive leads so far to claim it as terror funding Lakhisarai police had taken Zubair, Ayesha, Gopal Goyal and Pawan Gupta on remand for three days.
