Bangalore : A statement by retired DG and IGP Shanker Bidari that corrupt politicians, IAS and IPS officers must be shot dead, has kicked off a controversy.
While speaking at Hubli, the retired DGP had said that there should be a law which allows such punishment for the corrupt as in Arab nations.
Bidari further said people who have looted the government and state resources are escaping punishment making the society lose faith in the judiciary. The situation at present is such that the quantum of punishment is the same for the looters and those who have committed minor crimes, he observed.
Those indulging in corruption must face death penalty, the corrupt should have a fear of law, only then that corruption can be controlled in the nation,” he said.
