Mangalore : The scrutiny of nominations filed by candidates in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for the upcoming Assembly elections, was held on April 18, Thursday. The nominations of 12 candidates in DK district were rejected leaving a total of 86 candidates in the fray. The exact picture will however emerge when the last date for filing nomination ends on April 20, Saturday.
The total number of nominations that have been found to be order and approved in various constituency limits are as follows. A total of 15 nominations were approved in Mangalore South, 11 in Mangalore North, 18 in Mangalore, 8 in Belthangady and Moodbidri each, 9 in Bantwal, 7 in Puttur and 10 in Sullia.
Most of the nominations rejected in DK were those filed by independent candidates.
In Udupi, the nomination filed from an independent candidate namely Vishwanath in Kundapur has been rejected out of the total 97 nominations filed.
