Mangalore : DK District in-charge  Minister Ramanatha Rai has said that there was no question of him taking political sanyas as demanded by the BJP. He also  said BJP leader Ananth Kumar has no moral right to ask him to take political sanyas.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress Election Office on Thursday April 3, Rai said  “I might have dozed off in the Assembly. But I certainly  have not  done a great job like BJP ministers who watched blue films inside the Assembly.”

To a question on the challenge posed by him to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel regarding the latter’s participation in Parliamentary proceedings, Rai said “I did  challenge Nalin.  Moreover there was no news in media regarding Nalin’s participation in discussions in Parliament.” “It is therefore I challenged him based on media reports,” Rai  tried to evade a reply by saying so.

He further charged the BJP of trying to tarnish the image of the Congress out of desperation following survey reports which have predicted higher seats for the Congress. The BJP is also  spreading false rumours that the Congress was responsible for the recent clashes during a private channel programme. It is also trying to defame the Congress on social sites, Rai alleged.

“Congress candidate B Janardhana Poojary is a leader with a clean image and the civil society has the responsibility of electing him,” the Minister said.

He also informed that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be addressing a rally at Nehru Maidan on April 4.

MLA Moidin Bava, District Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal, Mayor Mahabala Marla, Spokespersons Ivan D’Souza, Kallige Taranath Shetty and other party leaders were present.
