An experiment that proved costly

Mangalore : Amogh (12), a class seven student of a private school in Mangalore  suffered damage to his eyes after he and two of his friends tried a sodium hydroxide experiment on the toilet floor. The incident which took place on September 16  as  no police complaint has been lodged.

It is learnt  on September 16 when Amogh was  about to go home, two of his friends took him aside to the school toilet where they poured Sodium Hydroxide which they had reportedly stolen from the school lab, on the toilet floor and then asked Amogh to pour water over it. Amogh did as they told and bent to see the reaction only to suffer damage to his eyes.

He   was then admitted to a private hospital. He is the son of Ashok and Asha of Mahakalipadpu.

Amogh’s left eye is covered with bandage. His parents said doctors have advised rest for ten days.
