Udupi : A team of officials led by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prabhaker Sharma visited several places in Nittur and Beedinagudde, which are inhabited by labourer families and encouraged the families to send their children to schools. The effort was a joint initiative of the Department of Labour, Women and child Welfare Department and the Department of Social Welfare.
The team spoke to the residents and apprised them of the facilities provided by government to children going to schools. Some of the residents complained that the lack of conveyance and such other problems refrained them from sending their kids to schools. The ZP CEO assured to look into the problems.
The ZP CEO told reporters that during the visit the official team found three school drop outs and said they would be brought back to school.
He said the team would be visiting various other places in the district soon to identify school drop outs.
