Bangalore: Fans of actor-turned-politician and housing minister M H Ambareesh heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday after his wife Sumalatha made a public announcement that her husband is recovering.

“Annavru (elder brother) would soon return home and appear before you all. He (Ambareesh) is fast recovering and the doctors are giving him the best treatment. Please don’t heed any rumours. We need privacy and your cooperation in these times,” said Sumalatha. The 61-year-old minister was admitted on Friday after he felt feverish and complained of difficulty in breathing.

Sumalatha was forced to make a statement on Ambareesh’s health after rumour mills started working overtime. When she failed to turn up at a media briefing in the morning, the fans demanded that she come out and speak.

Later, doctors treating Ambareesh said he is recovering from a breathing problem caused due to lung infection.
