Mangalore, June 10: Nearly 30 passengers of Air India were stranded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) for around six hours after the flight cancellation.
The connective flight, which first took off from Mangalore reached Mumbai on time and from Mumbai the flight got cancelled yesterday at the last moment without providing any prior information to the passengers. The flight (Ai643) from Mumbai was departing to Ahmedabad in the mean time.
An executive from Mumbai CSIA airport said: “I can agree that inconvenience caused to the passengers. But, understand that airplane is also a machine; some technical problem can occur any time.”
He added that owing to the last moment cancellation, we didn’t get enough time to give prior information to the passengers.
Some passengers got stunned and upset with sudden infirmity of the Air India. A few of them exclusively informed News Karnataka: “We are normal with such inconvenience and irregularity that occurs generally while travelling with Air India.”
However, Air India arranged a combined flight for the passengers on the same day at Mumbai International Airport.
Moreover, passengers got upset with the twice check-in process once while departing from Mangalore to Mumbai; again at Mumbai after the flight cancellation.
Passengers that were travelling to Ahmedabad were from Mangalore, Cochin, Jaipur. One passenger stated that inconvenience wouldn’t have augmented further if the flight would have taken off from the domestic airport instead of an international terminal.
Besides, for some commuters such irregularities are very general and some are actually prepared that it can cause any time. While some also suffered lack of executives at information desk at CSIA.
