Mangalore: The district Youth Congress demonstrated a protest in front of the DC office against J Jayalalitha’s decision to free the killers of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Saturday February 22.





The protest that was initiated under the leadership congress youth President Mithun Rai heard cries of ‘Jayalalitha hai hai!’ and ‘Rajiv Gandhi Amar Rahen’ rang through the air. Portraits of Jayalalitha were burned on the occasion.
The protestors stated that it is unfortunate that Jayalalitha is releasing terrorists and killers of our former prime minister for the sake of votes; moreover agitating the issue they claimed that the undemocratic decision by the Jayalalitha Government to release the killers of Rajiv Gandhi is done for her own selfish political benefits, they alleged.
The interim district Congress president Ibrahim Kodijal was present on the occasion along with KPCC Anumantha and several district Youth Congress members.
Addressing the agitator’s congress leaders said that they are not against the Supreme government but the interference of Jayalalitha, is unfair. They further warned that the decision by the Jayalalitha Government to release the killers of Rajiv Gandhi was not only unfortunate, but it also proved that the political parties and the Governments were having double standards on terrorists.
They also said the political parties should show no leniency in the fight against terrorism. They said the Jayalalitha Government’s decision has made fun of the decision of the Supreme Court and also stooped down to play fourth class politics.
Simultaneously a protest was also held by the congress activists at Udupi, wherein an effigy of Jayalalitha was brunt agitating over the situation.
