Bantwal : The rule making it mandatory to mention mobile numbers in all applications submitted to government departments, has irked the public. Already social activist Muruva Mahabala Bhat has decided to complain to the Minister for Food Supplies as well as Chief Minister in this regard.

The Revenu Department of Panemangalore Hobali has put up a notice outside the Taluk Panchayat stating that mentioning mobile numbers in all applications pertaining to the Food Supplies Department is mandatory and applications without mobile numbers will not be accepted.
Bhat has questioned whether owning a mobile phone is mandatory even for the poor who find it difficult to make both ends meet. The new rule is an attempt to snatch the rights of the common man, he said.
Meanwhile, commenting on the issue, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has said there is no rule which makes owning a mobile phone mandatory and also that no application without mobile number will be rejected, If some such thing happens, then the same will be looked into, the DC said.
