Kasargod : A 76 year old man who was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl, has been convicted by the Kasargod District and Sessions Court. The court has sentenced him to five years of imprisonment and has also slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000. He will have to undergo three years of additional jail in case he fails to pay the penalty.
The person who has been convicted is KV Thomas of Badiadka Kedenji. He was arrested after he had lured an eight year old girl with a chocolate, took her to a nearby forest area and raped her on August 28, 2011. The incident had taken place when the girl was on her way home from school.
Though the man had requested the court to be lenient considering his age,his plea was rejected.
