Bangalore : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has  recommended  government employees to opt for travel in  state owned corporation buses.

Speaking  to reporters here, he said he has already written letters to chief ministers of all states in this regard.

He said the  use of fuel was on the rise in the nation resulting in drastic increase in fuel import. The only way to reduce this is to make use of public modes of transport, he said.

He said the nation was forced to use huge quantity of foreign exchange for oil import which has seen a rise by 75 per cent. Even the volatility of the rupee value has hit hard the nation’s economy.

He also requested public to stop using their personal vehicles  for at least two days in a week.
