Mangalore :  In another major haul,  customs officials have seized 20 kg of saffron which a passenger tried to smuggle   at the Mangalore International Airport on November 10, Sunday evening.

The passenger had arrived by an Abu  Dhabi-Muscat flight at 7.30 pm. Customs officials detected the saffron in his baggage.  The value of the seized saffron is not yet known. The officials have also not yet revealed the name of the arrested passenger.

Here it is worth mentioning that the smuggling of gold and saffron through the Mangalore International Airport has seen a spurt in the recent times.
