Mangalore : A house located close by the National Highway at Kulur was gutted in a late night fire mishap on November 9, Saturday. The loss has been estimated at around Rs 5 lakhs.
It were the neighbours who first noticed the thick smoke billowing from inside the house and alerted its occupants Rukmayya Poojari and his wife. The couple were unhurt in the mishap. Their elder son Praveen was out on night duty when the mishap took place.The couple’s other two children are staying elsewhere.
The tiled roof house was completely destroyed in the fire. All the clothes, furniture etc in the house were also engulfed by the fire. Luckily the fire did not spread to the surrounding RCC houses.
Moidin Bava, Mangalore North MLA who visited the place assured to strive to secure compensation from the government to the affected family.
