Ullal : A group which kidnapped two students of a private college at Derlakatte on December 19, Thursday, later allegedly tried to blackmail them for cash after taking their photographs in compromising positions.
As per reports, the Kerala origin student and a Bihar origin female student of the college were kidnapped by a group of six in a car on Wednesday night. It is learnt the students belonged to different communities. Sources said the kidnappers took video and photographs of the two in compromising positions and then placed forth a demand for Rs 30,000. The kidnappers even snatched the mobile phones of the two and then released them the next day asking them to bring cash.
The aggrieved students later lodged a complaint with the police through a lady advocate. As per the police direction, the students gave a ring to their mobile phone which was with the assailants and agreed to pay the amount at a particular spot near Derlakatte. It is learnt though the police and the students arrived at the spot, the assailants on gathering hint of the police fled the place in a Maruti Swift car.
