Mangalore : Two persons were killed after they were run over by trains in two separate incidents reported from DK district on April 24, Wednesday.

In the first incident reported at around 8 am on Wednesday, one Jayaram Gowda (55) hailing from Navoor in Kaniyoor of Puttur taluk  died after he was knocked down by a train while he was trying to cross the railway track at Eladka between Kaniyoor and Yedamangala at around 8 am. His head was separated from the rest of the  body due to the impact of the collision.

In another incident, a man hailing from Bondel in Mangalore was killed  when he was hit by a train between Ullal and Kolya at 11 am.  The deceased is P Sesappa Poojari. Family members of the deceased say they do not know  why  he had been to Ullal when he had left home saying he would  return after reading some newspapers.

The body was identified with the help of the mobile phone found at the spot.

Railway police have registered a case.
