Kasargod : Two chain snatchers who were fleeing after snatching  the chain of a housewife, were caught by the Badiadka police with the help of the public at Nellikatte. Even the car of the chain snatches has been seized.

The incident took place on January 10, Friday afternoon. The two had snatched the gold chain weighing two and a half sovereigns belonging to  Anisha (32), wife of Radhakrishna of Karindalapalla and were  fleeing. The locals chased them and managed to trap Mohamamd Sharief (32). Hameed (28) of Mogral Koppala was later arrested.

It is learnt they had snatched Anisha’s chain no sooner she alighted a bus. One of them was caught when his car’s petrol got exhausted and he tried to step out. The other accused Hameed who had  fled was summoned to Badiadka after asking Sharief to make a call to him. No sooner he reached Badiadka by an autorickshaw he too was arrested.

Investigations are underway to know if the duo was wanted in other theft cases too.
