Gadag: Ten persons including three children were killed and over 26 persons injured when a tractor carrying a wedding party  was  hit by a lorry from the rear  in Dambala village near here on February 12, Wednesday.

The impact of the collision was such that the tractor overturned killing eight persons on the spot. Two others died in the hospital later on. The bride and the groom who  were in the tractor though were injured, are said to be out of danger.

The mishap took place when the families of the bride and groom were  heading towards Kandagalpura for a mass marriage ceremony.  Neelakantappa Doddamani  of Mundaragi taluk was scheduled to marry Gangamalavva Balappa Hadimani  of Gadag taluk.

It has been learnt that the lorry was over speeding  resulting in the mishap. The driver is absconding. Local police have registered a case.
