Youth killed in school van hit; family members go on rampage

Bangalore:  A day after a 19 year old bike rider was killed after he was hit by a  school van of the Green Grove International School, family members  and relatives of the deceased youth created a ruckus at the  school premises at Sampigehalli on January 15, Wednesday  by  vandalising the school property including furniture and computers .

Sampath Kumar, a student of Yelahanka  Government College  was the ill-fated youth who died in the accident.  According to the police officials, the distraught family brought Kumar’s body to the school premises at around 4 pm on Wednesday and staged a protest but as the school was closed for the last three days on account of festivals, the mob broke –in after breaking  window panes and destroyed the furniture. They have also set afire the computer lab and other electronic equipment.

Reportedly, 28-year-old Sharanappa Patil, the driver of the school van was under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle mowed down Sampath.  Although he  was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to injuries on way.
